Course Description
This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and ceiling lining.
The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as two specialist fields of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement
Detailed Course Information
The Target group for this qualification, CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining, include persons wanting to gain this qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) thus formalising the skills and knowledge, they have acquired through working in this industry sector for a period of two (2) years or more.
Training Package
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification
Candidates must be able to:
- prove they are over 18 years old
- provide evidence a minimum of 2 years recent work in the construction industry
- receive a satisfactory result in the AIET LLN test
- have access to a work environment in which they work in the construction industry
- obtain written permission from employers that:
- They can undertake their RPL process on work site – which includes work site visits by the AIET assessor,
- use workplace documentation and clients, client information and third-party reports
- demonstrate their ability to be assessed through RPL and CT only
- provide certified evidence of unit requirements
Furthermore, candidates must confirm that they understand that AIET will only provide assessment by RPL and CT, that this is provided as fee-for-service only, no further gap assessment or gap training will be provided by AIET and that if the assessor does not cite sufficient evidence to warrant the awarding of RPL and/or CT within the assessment duration then the assessor will not award RPL or CT as an outcome (this decision being subject to Appeal and Complaint)

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:
- 26 units of competency:
- 19 core units
- 7 elective units.
A maximum of two of the seven required elective units may be substituted by selecting relevant units of competency from any Certificate III or IV construction qualification or qualification in another endorsed Training Package.
